Measure a glass balustrade measurement

Get accurate, reliable measurements for your glass balustrade installation. This step-by-step guide helps you mark centre lines, plan fixings, and prepare your space correctly, ensuring a smooth and precise installation every time.

Setting Out the Centre Line

Tools Required: Measuring Tape, Pencil or Marker, Straight Edge or Chalk Line

1. Measure the Run

Using a measuring tape, mark the centre line for the next run in that section.

This will guide the position of your bottom channel and post fixings.

2. Set Back from the Edge

All centre lines must be set back 75 mm from the substrate edge.

Measure carefully along the full length of the run to maintain a consistent offset.

3. Account for Overhangs

If the substrate has an overhang, always measure at least 75 mm perpendicular from where the overhang begins.

This provides tolerance for adjustments and allows proper water run-off.

4. Allow for Tolerance

Leave a 25 mm gap from the end of the channel or end post to the end of the measured run.

This provides tolerance for adjustments and allows proper water run-off.

5. Final Check

Before drilling or fixing:

• Recheck all measurements
• Confirm the centre line is straight and correctly offset
• Ensure substrate is solid and suitable for fixing bolts
